PV RANCH ADVENTURES

DAAN & SHAYNA

Wedding galleries come with hundreds of photos showing the big public moments as well as the quiet intimate ones. Out of respect for my couple's privacy, I keep full galleries private for their own personal use. To get a better idea of what a full wedding day looks like, rather than mostly seeing just the couple portraits, I've selected highlights from every part of a special day.

GETTING READY

I like to show up a little early, this gives me time to settle in and get my gear ready. I might come in and start taking photos of all the behind the scene bits before you even know I have arrived! I move around your getting ready location with speed and stealth. I want to capture every laugh, tear and special moment that takes place.

If you gather all of your details and set them aside, I can capture these significant pieces quickly and smoothly so I can focus more attention on all the action! Details can include anything you want documented. Rings, other jewellery, all accessories, flowers, shoes, veil, garter, garter, invites, love notes, wedding stationary, and any other details you may have.

TIPS

1. To create a beautiful and effective getting ready location, ensure that you have tucked away any clutter, mess or distractions.

2. Pick a spot in front of a window, for the best light.

THE CEREMONY

I'll probably cry a little, I usually do, but don't worry! It won't affect my ability to take photos, lol!

I respect any restrictions and requests that you, the venue, and officiant have. I move quietly around your ceremony location to capture all angles, reactions and moments. I also make sure I snap a couple shots of the setup before people flow in.

TIPS

1. If you're having your wedding outside mid-day, try to hold the ceremony in a shaded area for ideal lighting. If you can't have it in the shade, try to have the sun at your back, facing the audience, creating a shadow in front of you.

2. If you are having your ceremony late in the day or early evening, place the sun behind you, facing your audience for that golden glow.

FAMILY PORTRAITS

This can be the most chaotic part of the day, but it's oh so much fun!

I'll ask you well before hand to provide me with a family portrait list with the names of all the family combinations you would like. I'll find us a nice spot and you can provide me with a friend or family member who can help me wrangle everyone in. I'm a professional cat herder!

TIPS

1. Pick one person who knows your friends and family well to help me gather.

2. Planning your family photos to take place at or near the ceremony location will make the process go quickly and smoothly.

TIME

1/2 an hour to 1 hour.

If you have smaller families and only want 10 or so combinations, 1/2 an hour will do.

If you have bigger families and want more combinations, 45 minutes to an hour is ideal.

BRIDAL PARTY PORTRAITS

It's time to have some fun with the people you picked to to honour your day!

I love to have a lot of fun with this part of the day. I may ask you to pick someone up, walk like you're drunk, or run like it's the apocalypse! Whatever it is that we do, I make sure everyone is down for it.

TIPS

Make sure your bridal party doesn't get too drunk before this, lol.

TIME

1/2 an hour to 45 minutes.

If you have more than 6 people in your bridal party, definitely 45 minutes!

JUST THE TWO OF YOU

This is my absolute favourite part! I love pulling you two away from everyone to enjoy some calm and fun moments together.

I'll walk you through the entire process, pose you and give prompts to create some beautiful and fun photos and moments. We can stay on site or leave to another photo destination.

TIPS

1. Just be yourselves! Be vulnerable, be real, and don't worry about the camera too much. If you feel a laugh coming on, or something is on your partners face, laugh, fix their face, just be you.

2. Touch is everything! don' be afraid to put your hands all over each other.

3. Enjoy this time together because the party starts after this!

TIME

At least 1 hour, 2 if there are location changes.

THE RECEPTION

Finally! The party!

This is the part of the day where I shoot more candids than ever! You don't have to worry about not getting enough photos of your guests, or me taking a nap, lol, I'm on it! I'll be keeping an eye out for any fun, flirty, silly, or romantic moment that may happen with anyone. I might jump out of my seat mid-dinner to capture that moment!

I'll capture all your speeches and special moments, such as the cake cut and first dances. I'll capture your guests interacting and laughing. I'll capture your decor and setup. I might even pull you two away one more time for some sunset or moody night photos.

TIPS

1. If you're having your reception outside, try to provide cute lighting like fairy lights and festoon lights.

2. Having a white tent for all your main events to take place under, is ideal, as well. I will never have a problem with low lighting if I can bounce my flash off a white or light coloured ceiling.

3. If your ceremony is indoor, ensure there is enough lighting, again fairy and festoon lights are super cute and provide some extra light.
